Ripple Africa runs large scale environmental projects across six districts in Malawi, guided by its belief in providing a hand up, not a hand out.
In response to widespread deforestation, the organisation launched community tree planting programmes that now see around two million trees planted each year. To address firewood use, a major driver of forest loss, Ripple Africa developed the fuel efficient Changu Changu Moto cookstove. Today, more than 600,000 people use these stoves daily, saving an estimated 250,000 bundles of wood every week.
